Sand Blasting Cabinet

Sand blasting cabinet is a different type of sand blasting machine which has a cabinet and is a closed or enclosed form of the machine. In that closed section blasting of contaminants as well as recycling of abrasive media takes place. There are various other functions which are included like cleaning, recycling as well as the collection of dust materials too.

Sand Blasting Cabinet is a cabinet consisting of many components used for sandblasting the substrate surface. Sand blasting is a process in which blasting abrasive media is sand. Sand blasting Cabinet is a cabinet having all in one feature. Sand blasting Cabinets we use this cabinet only for abrasives like 30/60 Mesh, Steel grit, Aluminum grit, Copper Slag, etc. That is used for blasting on the surface of the substrate. Cabinet eliminates the requirement of safety equipment because the cabinet protects the operator from the microparticles of abrasive. There is no difference between the cabinet like Grit Blasting Cabinet, Sand Blasting Machine, Shot Blasting Machine. Cabinet differs only on behalf of Pressure, Wet & Suction Blasting Cabinet.

In front of the cabinet, it has a two-hole section in which we can put hands into gauntlets that have gloves for a blasting workpiece. Cabinet consists of a closed package of Dust collector, Sand blasting Machine, Gloves, Sand blasting Hopper, etc. Outside the cabinet when sandblasting is completed then there is an air gun for cleaning up residue particles from the surface of the workpiece. A reclaimer type collector is used to reclaim the abrasive used. Fabric bag type collector is a different type of dust collector having a fabric bag inside the collector in which abrasive or dust gets stuck. The fabric bag is vibrated with the help of an air compressor so that abrasive particles get recovered.

As we have many abrasives to use for blasting the surface of the substrate. On the basis of physical properties, shape, density, volume, size, surface behavior, Sieve analysis & Chemical analysis of abrasive. We have different types of abrasives like Garnet Sand, Garnet Mesh, Balls, Shots, Grits, Plastic abrasive, Aluminum oxide, Slag, Quartz Sand, and Silicon Carbide & Aluminum Silicate.

Types of Sandblasting Cabinet :

  • Suction Blasting Cabinet
  • Pressure Blasting Cabinet
  • Wet Blasting Cabinet

Suction Blasting Cabinet

Suction Blasting Cabinet works on the phenomenal process of suction. In this, the gun has two inlet holes, one for abrasive suction & another one for creating a vacuum. Vacuum creation forms a suction process inside the suction blasting gun.

Pressure Blasting Cabinet

In the Pressure Blasting Cabinet, There is a pressure pot at the bottom of the . In Pressure, pot pressure is created towards the abrasive & compressed air through a mixer tube. It requires 65-110 CFM & 6-7 kgf/cm 2 compressed air. There are two doors of a cabinet in which the workpiece is fed for abrasive blasting. And abrasive is fed into the hopper having gravity feed. Hopper has two levels of sieving in which the upper level is a perforated sheet having 8mm holes. And the second level of sieving is wire mesh having 3mm holes for filtration of abrasive. It is used for effective blasting for removing a hard layer of unwanted contaminants. These Pressure Blasting Cabinets are categories in different types of blasting cabinets as which abrasive is used. In the pressure blasting cabinet Checkered stand is used for pressure blasting. The checkered platform provides an operator to stand on it. Due to the pressure pot at the bottom stand height increases.

Wet Blasting Cabinet

In the Wet Blasting Cabinet, There is the same working as in the Suction Blasting Cabinet. But in this cabinet Water & compressed air both are used for wet blasting process. It is cheaper than both Pressure & Suction as it uses water abrasive as a blasting media. In this, the pressure of compressed air is 35 CFM & 6-7 kgf/cm 2. It is used for Automobile components, Greasy Components that are soluble in water. Dry Blasting is not used because of oil & grease in automobile components. As abrasive get stuck on these greasy particles. That makes it harder to Dry blasting on these greasy workpieces. One of the main advantages of a Wet blasting machine is that it provides a shiny finish to the workpiece as compared to the other models of abrasive blasting.
